What we’ve recently been up to? Its been a while since last post here, in case you haven’t noticed already we’re posting updates and plugins more often on our second blog – extras.hostbillapp.com. So whats new in HostBill?

1. HostBill 3.0 has been released few days ago, featuring major domain management updates
2. We’ve introduced OnApp:LoadBalancers integration as only billing system on the market!
3. Security has been significantly improved + we’ve added built-in security manager
4. Languages are no longer kept in database, you can easily manage them through Admin: Language manager
5. I could go on like this for a long time…

…but why not develop something now? OK!

Introducing: Direct Order Link Plugin

If you’re using HostBill already you probably know that you can use Direct order link for services, so client can add product to cart without selecting one from list by visiting certain URL. Now with Direct Order Links plugin you can do much more! How to use it:

- Log in as administrator & activate Direct Order Link plugin

- While logged in, visit your clientarea->cart

- select product, configure it the way you want (add addons, set forms elements, set values, billing cycles, discounts etc.)

- click on Generate Now

- you will receive direct order link that will contain your current cart configuration – send it to customer for rapid checkout process!

HostBill users recently reported issue with OnApp 2.1RC4 module.

Problem:
When creating billing plan using API its not possible to create machine as client, as OnApp throws HTTP500 + bad response error.

Solution:
We’ve created patch for OnApp Full-Featured module 2.1. To apply it please download your copy of module again from our clientarea, and extract archive contents
in main HostBill directory.

Patch drawbacks:
This patch hard-codes clients’ cpu-shares to unlimited (its not setting cpu-shares limit in OnApp), and for new machines created from HostBill clientarea it sets cpu-share to 1, despite of slider settings.

Please note:
This is temporary patch, once OnApp will fix this bug with next RC/Stable version we will upload regular version of module with working CPU-Shares limit.

The new HostBill contains the powerful OnAPP module, which will allow you to resell your Cloud and enable your clients to manage their own VPS servers. Thereʼs only a few days to wait until the new HostBill arrives!

It’s late here, the release date is tomorrow, and weʼre doing some final polishing on the next version of HostBill. Iʼve decided to check what can be done with the HostBill add-ons system in just 40 minutes. The results of my work will be added into the upcoming release. Clients Online is a really simple yet handy add-on that will show you which of your clients are currently logged-in. It integrates itself into the admin homepage, so you will have at-a glance information about your clients’ activity.

It’s a matter of single days now until the next version of HostBill is released. With this version we will introduce an add-on especially for hosting company owners. If you own or resell a few dedicated servers spread across different collocations, you probably know the pain of managing contacts for them, or going through dozens of emails to find login details or hardware specifications. Well, worry no more, as now you can have all that information in one place – in HostBill!

With our add-on you’ll be able to manage collocations where you host your servers, contacts to them, and keep information about racks, servers, switches, labels etc. Just take a look at the screenshots:

The next version is coming up, and as I’ve just finished developing this i thought I’d share a screenshot of the new add-on that will be included with the new HostBill (1.4.6). CSV Exporter is a simple tool for everyone who wants to do accounting outside HostBill and who needs a set of data exported from it. Youʼll be able to export invoices, transactions, accounts, domains and client details to be used in any program that is compatible with CSV format.

Its around one week until next HostBill will be released, and because of this we’ve decided to show you something special – new free HostBill addon which will be included with next version – PayPal Balance Addon. This simple addon gives you at a glance information about your current PayPal balance. But the best part about it is its simplycity – no need to edit any file!

1. You will visit addon management section, and hit “Activate” next to this addon

2. Fill in your API data, and hit Save Changes

Hello – we’re recently getting lot of demanding on documentation – how to create custom gateways for HostBill. We try to answer every request for gateways/hosting control panels/ domain registrars and add such modules into HostBill, however we also want to give such possibility to other developers.
