HostBill in 2024 – yearly summary
Traditionally at the end of the year we’re publishing our yearly summary – review of our achievements in 2024. We’re posting some numbers that might surprise you, so look into our journey and performance in the past year!
2024 in numbers
Maintaining our fast release cycle is one of our priorities, making sure our Clients receive a weekly dose of HostBill news. This year we managed to publish 64 releases – so even more than one per week!
In those releases we introduced 516 new features (more than in 2023 and 2022) and made 66 additional changes. When it comes to bug fixes, we did 938 of those, so as you can see our whole Team had quite a busy year, week after week!
Talking about the numbers, it’s been 15 years since HostBill debuted on the market. It’s been a no mean trick, a long journey with lots of ups and downs, but we keep our course steady and we’re ready for another 15 years!
New integrations
In 2024 we launched 20 new integrations (again, more than last year). Among the new modules, there are 10 new provisioning integrations: ISP Manager Licenses, Bunny.net DNS module, Synergy CP, RealtimeRegister DNS, CentralNIC SSL, Polaris Mail, Proxmox Mail, Proxmox Backup Server, Webuzo and NicSRS SSL. We also introduced 7 new plugins: Swiss QR code, Currency API exchange module and Translation Toolkit with 4 translation modules: Azure, OpenAI, DeepL, Google Translate. There are also 2 new domain modules: it.com and Regtons and 1 new order page: Onestep 2019 Side Summary. We hope that the next year will bring us even more partnerships!
Additionally, we added several new additions to the Cloud Signup module enabling customers to login to HostBill client portal using Discord, LinkedIn, Steam, PayPal, Dropbox, Twitch and WordPress. We also released an updated Coinify2 module, a new Stripe Intents version of modules: Alipay, FPX, GiroPay, iDeal, Multibanco, P24, Sofort and Wechat Pay and a new Stripe Intents Bancontact module.
New features
Over 500 new features added to HostBill this year is something to be proud of and it’s worth highlighting some of them.
In Client Management we added a new Client Teams feature based on the Staff Teams functionality. It’s a huge improvement for clients allowing them to create multiple Teams with various sets of permissions. Another improvement for clients are Service Groups, that allow to organize client services into groups. For easier client management we added a separate listing of customers without group assignment and highlighted current profile status on status listing. There’s also a separate new page that lists all client notes. We also added manual service renew restriction for clients.
In Products, we have new visibility options for products (Hide products for seperate orders) and components (hide from orderpage). A new option allows to flag the order page or category as “Registered only” making it accessible only to logged in clients. In the cart categories page you can now decide whether or not to show the “Starts from price” slogan. There’s also a new dry-run for current product price change impact, so you can update the price or add new options to all existing accounts without the need of bulk update.
For promotional codes, there’s a new coupon type: Invoice + cart coupon. Existing promotional codes can now be cloned and automatically archived past their expiration date. Discounts can now be applied per invoice line.
For Domains we added a new domain status – Suspended domain and a new option now to Allow internal domain transfers between different HostBill installations/accounts.
A couple of new features were added to DNS Templates: ability to define available TTLs to show in client portal, new variables that can be used, ability to expose DNS templates to DNS Management function on registry nameservers and more.
A lot of news concerns Invoicing, Billing, Taxes etc. A new tab in Billing Settings now allows to create a number of predefined public notes that can be later used when creating or editing invoices and estimates in the admin UI. In Estimates we added optional product lines and Estimate changes log. New functionality allows to enable “Affiliate Invoice” in the Affiliate Settings section. New feature allows editing existing tax. There’s also a number of new minor options and improvements for invoicing, such as new invoice merge options, ability to show period for one-time billed services, new settings for unpaid invoices and more. We also added new automated invoice reminders for manually issued invoices.
This year we also focused on improving the Security. In Security Settings you can now define the number of unsuccessful admin login attempts and subsequently the IP ban time. Improving users’ security, now each email or password change or MFA deactivation, for both admin and client areas will require additional MFA confirmation. You can also block admin from password reset
In Ticket Department settings, you can set the department as visible/accessible only to unregistered clients. New feature in the Ticketing System is the supervisor review on replies. There’s also several new ACLs (such as edit support ticket notes.) and email notifications (eg. ticket deadline set)
Apart from that, in 2024 we introduced a handful of usability improvements, new search filters, a couple of dozens of new API calls, new staff permissions, new notifications, constant changes and improvements in Theme2019 and much more.
To summarize, a lot has been done, but we hope we will kickstart the new year with new solutions, face new challenges, boost our efficiency even more and maintain a high customer satisfaction rate!
