SSL Automation Helper
We’re happy to present a new module for HostBill that automates the process of verification and installation of the SSL certificate!
When ordering a SSL certificate the end client has to generate CSR in the hosting account, order SSL certificate, confirm the domain ownership and install the generated certificate in the hosting account. A few of those steps can be automated which will make it much easier for end clients to order and install SSL. Here is where our new module comes in handy. SSL Automation Helper reacts to events in SSL module (new SSL order, renew request etc) and acts as a bridge between a SSL module, a hosting module and a DNS module.
How SSL Automation Helper works
When a client orders a SSL certificate, the SSL Automation Helper module automatically performs certificate verification:
- DNS verification:
- the module checks if the client has a hosting account with the domain for which the certificate was ordered and which uses the module that supports SSL automation
- the module checks if the client has a DNS service that has the zone for which the certificate was ordered
- the module automatically adds the record needed to verify the certificate
- HTTP verification:
- the module checks if the client has a hosting account with the domain for which the certificate was ordered and which uses the module that supports SSL automation
- the module automatically uploads the verification file to the location specified by the SSL module
After verifying the certificate, the module automatically installs the certificate in the hosting service – simple as that!
The plugin is free and available to all HostBill users. Currently it is supported by The SSL Store SSL module, Plesk hosting module and PowerDNS module. Further information on how to activate and configure the module can be found in HostBill documentation.
