New release with a mix of admin area improvements!
The newest release brings a mix of administrative improvements, usability fixes, and feature expansions across several areas of HostBill: from better permission control and queue visibility to more flexible inventory fields, API options, and domain ordering improvements and more!
Release notes
A new ACL permission, “Generate order as free”, has been added to give administrators more granular control over the “Generate as free” option in order drafts. The new ACL allows to define which staff members can create free orders, helping teams maintain tighter control over billing-related actions and reducing the risk of unintended order processing.
Queue monitoring and troubleshooting is now more convenient thanks to new filters that allow administrators to filter queue records by error or info status. This improvement makes it much easier to locate failed jobs, review informational records, and quickly identify issues in busy installations with large numbers of background tasks.
HostBill now allows administrators to change and translate metered variable names, making metered billing setups more flexible and easier to localize. This is especially useful for teams working in multilingual environments or for businesses that want to use clearer, more customer-friendly labels for usage-based billing metrics.
A new optional notify parameter has been added to the passwordChange API call, allowing integrations to skip the standard email notification when changing a password. This gives developers more control over how password changes are handled in automated workflows and external systems, while still keeping the existing notification behavior available when needed.
Inventory Manager continues to evolve with new features that improve flexibility and data handling. A new Dropdown field type is now available for inventory items, allowing administrators to define structured selectable values for custom item fields. Thanks to the new field type it’s easier to standardize inventory data, improve consistency across records, and reduce manual input errors. Additionally, the add/update delivery details section now includes support for a Delivery Date description, giving teams additional context when recording delivery-related information. It can be used for storing notes about scheduling, logistics, expected timing, or any extra information tied to the delivery date.
The 2019 Theme receives several enhancements to the domain order page pricing display, including: price filtering, tags, sorting improvements and a redemption column. These updates make domain pricing easier to browse and compare, improving the ordering experience for clients and helping them navigate available domain options more efficiently.
For ComodoSSL, it is now possible to download the certificate file directly from HostBill. This addition simplifies certificate management workflows by making it easier for administrators to access and retrieve issued SSL certificates when needed.
